Efficient Blockchain-Based Group Key Distribution for Secure Authentication in VANETs

نویسندگان

چکیده

This letter proposes a group key distribution scheme using smart contract-based blockchain technology. The contract’s functions allow for securely distributing the session key, following initial legitimacy detection public infrastructure-based authentication. For message authentication, we propose lightweight symmetric cryptography-based signature method, supporting security and privacy requirements of vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs). Our discussion examined scheme’s robustness against typical adversarial attacks. To evaluate gas costs associated with contracts functions, implemented it on Ethereum main network. Finally, comprehensive analyses computation communication demonstrate effectiveness.

Efficient HMAC-based secure communication for VANETs

Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is an emerging type of network which facilitates vehicles on roads to communicate for driving safety. It requires a mechanism to help authenticate messages, identify valid vehicles, and remove malevolent vehicles which do not obey the rules. Most existing solutions either do not have an effective message verification scheme , or use the Public Key Infrastructure...

GSLHA: Group-based Secure Lightweight Handover Authentication Protocol for M2M Communication

Machine to machine (M2M) communication, which is also known as machine type communication (MTC), is one of the most fascinating parts of mobile communication technology and also an important practical application of the Internet of Things. The main objective of this type of communication, is handling massive heterogeneous devices with low network overheads and high security guarantees. Hence, v...

Provably secure and efficient identity-based key agreement protocol for independent PKGs using ECC

Key agreement protocols are essential for secure communications in open and distributed environments. Recently, identity-based key agreement protocols have been increasingly researched because of the simplicity of public key management. The basic idea behind an identity-based cryptosystem is that a public key is the identity (an arbitrary string) of a user, and the corresponding private key is ...

Group Authentication and Group Key Distribution for Ad Hoc Networks

Group authentication and group key distribution ensure the security of group communication. Most existing schemes of group authentication and group key distribution need the assistance of a group manager. However, deciding upon a group manager can be difficult work for some practical applications, especially in an Ad Hoc network. Therefore, we proposed a group authentication and group key distr...

Key Regression: Enabling Efficient Key Distribution for Secure Distributed Storage

The Plutus file system introduced the notion of key rotation as a means to derive a sequence of temporallyrelated keys from the most recent key. In this paper we show that, despite natural intuition to the contrary, key rotation schemes cannot generically be used to key other cryptographic objects; in fact, keying an encryption scheme with the output of a key rotation scheme can yield a composi...
